{"id":619,"date":"2013-04-16T11:15:48","date_gmt":"2013-04-16T15:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kucpreschool.org\/?page_id=619"},"modified":"2023-11-28T17:38:41","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T22:38:41","slug":"emergency-plan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kucpreschool.org\/staging\/4294\/about\/emergency-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-page\" data-elementor-id=\"619\" class=\"elementor elementor-619\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46677d5c e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"46677d5c\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4dc86807 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4dc86807\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>These are operating goals, guidelines, and procedures for emergencies.\u00a0 Nothing in this plan shall limit the use of experience, good judgment, common sense, discretion, flexibility, and ingenuity to adapt to any type of critical event, emergency, and the complexities which exist under emergency conditions.<\/p><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Emergency Response Plan:<\/span><\/b><\/p><p>This plan defines emergency response operations such as communication plans, general emergency actions and student release procedures.\u00a0 This plan will be reviewed by all preschool staff annually.<\/p><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Emergency Incident Kit:<\/span><\/b><\/p><ul><li>Class lists\/emergency contacts for students from all classes<\/li><li>First aid kit<\/li><li>Emergency medications\/epipens<\/li><li>Copy of emergency plan<\/li><li>Cell phone for emergency use only<\/li><li>Hand sanitizer<\/li><li>Tarp<\/li><li>Towels<\/li><li>Whistle<\/li><li>Copy of insurance information and contacts<\/li><li>Radio<\/li><li>Mylar warming blankets<\/li><\/ul><p>*kit will be kept in the KUC office by the door.<\/p><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Emergency Communications:<\/span><\/b><\/p><p>If an emergency occurs during preschool hours:<\/p><ul><li>Do not drive to the school unless it is safe to do so and\/or you have been instructed by the Preschool Director to pick up your child.<\/li><li>It may be difficult to get through to the preschool via telephone because the preschool or church is trying to contact you.<\/li><li>As difficult as it may be, please await instructions from the Director or designee in the event of an emergency.<\/li><li>Please tune in to WTOP Radio 103.5FM for emergency information.<\/li><li>KUC Preschool follows Loudoun County Public Schools for closings.<\/li><\/ul><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Preparedness:<\/span><\/b><\/p><p>The preparedness phase readies our preschool staff to respond in a rapid, coordinated and effective manner in an emergency.\u00a0 Because it is not possible to completely mitigate against every hazard that poses a risk, preparedness measures can help reduce the impact of the remaining hazards by trying to take specific actions before an emergency event occurs.<\/p><p>We have developed the following preparedness measures:<\/p><ul><li>Standardization of preschool based emergency response and protective procedures for lock downs, stay put, stay tuned and shelter in place<\/li><li>Fire drills<\/li><li>Identification of communication protocols to warn and communicate with occupants in the preschool wing and church office. Possible methods of communication include fire alarm, telephone, cell phone, intercom system, church website, preschool website and air horn.<\/li><li>Upper and lower entrances for the preschool and Jacobus Center will be locked at 9:15 a.m. and reopened at 11:45 a.m.<\/li><li>All classroom doors including Jacobus Center classroom doors, shall be locked each day during school hours.\u00a0 Teachers must carry keys.<\/li><li>All teachers must have charged cell phones with Director and Assistant Director\u2019s numbers programmed into them.\u00a0 Director and Assistant shall have all employees and local emergency numbers programmed into their cell phones.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Evacuation<\/span><\/b>:<\/p><p>Purpose: \u00a0Whenever it is determined that it is safer outside than inside the building (i.e. fire, explosion, hazardous material spill inside, structural failure etc.)<\/p><ul><li>Preschool Director:<ul><li>In the event of an actual fire, pull fire alarm and the fire department will be notified immediately.<\/li><li>Call 9-1-1, identify the name and location of the school and church and describe the emergency.<\/li><li>Director or Assistant brings emergency kit from office.<\/li><li>Check bathrooms, hallways and common areas for visitors, staff and students while evacuating.<\/li><li>Notify the church staff of emergency.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>Teachers:<ul><li>At the sound of the alarm, teachers are to line children up and exit following the fire exit map posted in each classroom.<\/li><li>Teachers are responsible to bring attendance board with them upon exiting the building.<\/li><li>If feasible, meet on the grassy hill between the lower parking lot and Church Road outside of the building and take attendance.\u00a0 All children must be physically accounted for against the sign-in log and missing children reported to the Director immediately.<\/li><li>In the event of an actual fire, under no circumstances is the staff to stop for any of their own or children\u2019s belongings, including, jackets, backpacks or purses.<\/li><li><i><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">During a drill only<\/span><\/i>, if possible take appropriate supplies to protect children from the elements.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Offsite evacuation locations:<\/span><\/b><\/p><ul><li>Jacobus Center adjacent to the main church building<\/li><\/ul><p>703-430-9535<\/p><ul><li>Mohr house located at 340 Oak Tree Lane adjacent to the Jacobus Center.\u00a0 703-433-9174<\/li><\/ul><p>*Phil Mohr is SUMC\u2019s Church Ministries Administrator.<\/p><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Onsite Assembly area:<\/span><\/b><\/p><ul><li>Youth Room\/ 03<\/li><\/ul><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/p><p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Reverse Evacuation<\/span><\/b>:<\/p><p>Purpose: \u00a0When conditions are safer inside the building than outside, such as severe weather or community emergency.<\/p><ul><li>Preschool Director:<ul><li>Order a reverse evacuation for students and staff outside to move inside the building.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><ul><li>Teachers:<ul><li>Immediately move back into classrooms or safe areas using the closest entry.<\/li><li>Take attendance and account for all students.
